Traditional Week against homophobia and transphobia in this year coincided with the first in Russia Outdoor games and sports: competitions for LGBT people. The results of Games the organizers will publicize later, but for now we want to tell about those events, which conducted Coming Out in the all-Russian LGBT-active week lasting from the end of February to beginning of March.
Discussion in Moscow, Find common ground: human rights, LGBT, sports and the Olympics. The participants and representatives of LGBT community discussed the topic of homophobia in sports, and the use of the Olympic games for activism and statements about violations of human rights. We know that among the community nobody shares a single opinion on this account, and discussion aloowed to speak on different positions and hear alternative views and arguments.
March, 2nd in St. Petersburg a meeting of Parental love is the key to our success was hosted, which was attended by parents activists who were defending the rights of their homosexual and transgender children, young LGBT people, as well as parents, for whom such meeting was first. The meeting passed in a very warm atmosphere of support and understanding. The parent Club of the LGBT organization Coming Out turned three years old - we thank activists of the Club for their warmth, compassion and love. Your work is important not only for the people who receive assistance during meetings of the Parent Club, but also for the whole community, because the activists of the club became the ambassadors of love and hope for all LGBT people who suffer from rejection by their relatives.
